Corpus Callosum at Creative Practices Institute
This performance was presented for Creative Practices Institute's Performance@CPI.
Corpus Callosum aims to ridicule our compliance to binaries by inviting an audience to contemplate cultural conformities of handedness. Since 2010, I have been developing my non-dominant hand through writing, drawing and performance. In this work I exercise my left-handed abilities while discussing the history, science, and culture of handedness. Researchers working on brain laterality and cognitive science still debate nature versus nurture with regard to handedness; this is because only a quarter of the variation in handedness can be explained by genetics.
