The Paper Wall at illumiNITE Festival
The Paper Wall is a six by six foot sculpture that is entirely hand-made out of recycled newspaper. For illumiNITE Festival 2015, a video of The Paper Wall set on fire was projected onto a building behind Jasper Avenue. In the video, the wall burns to ashes in a blazing flame surrounded by snow. The work concerns bureaucracy and how we all must submit ourselves to its regiments in order to function in society. The act of burning the wall asserts that community is resilient amid bureaucratic authority and will remain a powerful force.
